First edition of this rare book published to celebrate the wedding of Francesco V d'Este, Duke of Modena, and Adelgonda Caroline of Bavaria, in March 1842. In April the couple had moved to Modena, and in May the city celebrated the event setting up scenographies and embellishing public buildings, with great parades of chariots going both day and night, including one representing the Jewish community, and also a personal one belonging to the author of this book, Corbelli, depicting a dragon. The book is divided into two sections, showing the chariots for the night and the day, illustrating the themes of the show, ranging from those allegorical-seasonal, to mythological subjects, also illustrating the decorations realized for the facades of some buildings.
