Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. First edition. An exceptional copy. 1998 Hard Cover. At times a bitter, hurt memoir, this book is revealing and polemic-- Godfried's impassioned final rejection of a life spent oppressed by his father's authoritarian ways and by the Wagner family's historical involvement with National Socialism. Gotfried was born in 1947 and grew up in a Bayreuth occupied by American soldiers and full of secret Nazi sympathizers, including his grandmother Winifred Wagner, who had run the Bayreuth Festival during the Nazi period and was an intimate friend of the Führer and his frequent host in the Wagner Villa, where Hitler went by the nickname "Wolf" (also Wolfgang, and hence the title of the book).
