A classic study, very detailed and well-illustrated. London expanded massively between late Victorian times and World War II. The inter-war years saw the most rapid developments. Jackson describes many estate developments, ranging from exemplary model villages like Hampstead Garden Suburb to the worst excesses of speculative builders. A fascinating work.
