Softcover. Condition: Good. 2nd ed. Written by a man who made a lifelong study of leather craft and rawhide work, How to Make Cowboy Horse Gear is the answer to many requests for how-to-do-it information from cowboys, horsemen in oeshow business, dude ranchers, and many other people interested in riding horses and their gear. Bridles, hackamores, reins, reatas, quirts, and riding crops are among the articles of gear that can be made using this well-illustrated book as a guide. Most of the pieces described here are made of rawhide; however, leather thongs and plastic string can be worked in the same manner. Clear and detailed drawings show from beginning to end how to make the articles of gear the horseman uses to "work or show" his horse to best advantage.

Condition: UNSPECIFIED. Signed by the Author on ffep. Octavo, black pebbled boards (hardcover), xi, 106 pp. Near-Fine. From Foreword: Most available literature on the subject of ocean transportation is concerned with the myriad details of freight traffic management and the handling and documentation of cargo. The vitally important, albeit controversial, subject of ship management is usually treated in a rather summary fashion, often consisting of little more than an organization chart of some steamship company, together with short descriptions of the employees' duties. There are some good reasons for this dearth of definition. The ubiquitous nature of ship operations breeds a climate of continuous change and infinite variations in surrounding circumstances., Thomas Thorburn, in his book Supply and Demand of Water Transport, published at the Stockholm School of Economics, lists ninety-five different factors, all of which influence the determination of water transport freight rates. These economic, technical and geographic factors are by their very nature interacting and dynamic and are in turn either short, medium or long term in their effect on each other and on the sum total. It therefore becomes difficult to write on the subject of ship owning or ship management in the unequivocal sense because the circumstances and problems are so complex and so varied that most any premise can easily be shown by example and illustration to be right under one set of circumstances and wrong under another. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: None. This work has a bookstore bookplate attached inside the front cover. Volume itself has blue/green cloth covers with gold lettering on the spine. 309 pages. The book attempts to cover all phases of paper work connected with the duties of the master. Many forms are shown in facsimile. The book is principally for the newly appointed master of a merchant vessel but it may be of some assistance to more experienced masters as a check in completion of necessary paperwork. Includes an index, which is very comprehensive. A inspection of the book shows no underlining, no highlighting, no folded pages, no markings, not an ex-libris, not a remainder. While the passage of time has occurred since publication, some parts of this work are probably relevant and some might not be. If this is so, the work may be of historic interest on what used to be done. A very serviceable copy.
