Dans une cachette qu'elle avait révélée à Stanislawa, son amie polonaise catholique. La jeune femme le retrouvera et le gardera dans un tiroir sans en parler à personne. Jusqu à ce que, soixante-cinq ans plus tard, elle le fasse lire à son neveu après une discussion animée sur la Shoah. Le jeune homme comprend que ce journal appartient à l'Histoire et encourage la vieille dame à le donner pour publication au musée de Yad Vashem.Ce journal est un récit poignant en même temps qu'un témoignage historique unique, enrichi par une passionnante préface de Marek Halter. Né à Varsovie, celui-ci a toujours été impressionné par la relation complexe que les Polonais ont entretenue avec les millions de juifs qui ont partagé leur histoire depuis plus de dix siècles.
