So wird ihr Problem, das sie sozusagen intern mit sich selbst austragen, nur selten bedacht und noch seltener darauf eingegangen.Nicht zuletzt versucht daher die vorliegende Arbeit die Leser auf den zumeist großen Leidensdruck solcher Kinder aufmerksam zu machen und ihnen mögliche Interventionsmaßnahmen (s. Kapitel 4.2 - 3) an die Hand zu geben, damit sie für dieses Thema sensibilisiert werden und sie künftig ein bloßes Übergehen dieser Kinder als unangemessen und unbefriedigend erachten. Zu diesem Zweck sind mittlerweile mehrere, theoretisch fundierte und empirisch überprüfte Trainingskonzepte für sozial unsichere Kinder auf dem Markt erschienen, bei denen der Präventionsgedanke im Vordergrund steht. Mit dreien dieser Konzepte habe ich mich eingehend auseinandergesetzt, wobei die Autoren eines jeden Trainingsprogramms ausdrücklich darauf hinweisen, dass die einzelnen Teile, im Sinne eines Baukastensystems, flexibel und je nach Bedarf der Kinder einzusetzen sind. So stieß ich in jeder Konzeption auf geeignete und weniger geeignete Elemente, um das sozial kompetente Verhalten von Jan und Julia sinnvoll zu fördern. Dreien dieser Konzepte ('Training mit sozial unsicheren Kindern' von PETERMANN und PETERMANN; 'Gruppentraining für ängstliche und sozial unsichere Kinder und ihre Eltern' von MAUER-LAMBERT, LANDGRAF und OEHLER; 'Mutig werden mit Til Tiger' von AHRENS-EIPPER und LEPLOW) wurden einzelne Bestandteile entnommen und aus diesen und eigenen Ideen ein, auf die im Titel genannten Kinder, individuell zugeschnittenes Konzept erstellt.Die Zielsetzung besteht darin, den beiden eine Möglichkeit zu eröffnen, aus ihrer Passivität herauszutreten und ihrem Umfeld sozial aktiv und weitgehend kompetent zu begegnen.
