Voraussetzung für eine zeitgemä ße Versorgung herzchirurgischer Patienten ist eine umfassende Kenntnis der Pathophysiologie der Herzerkrankungen, der Überwachungsmethoden des Kreislaufes und anderer lebenswichtiger Organfunktionen, der Phar makologie, der Wechselwirkungen zwischen Hämodynamik und pulmona lem Gasaustausch, der Physiologie und Pathophysiologie der Niere, des Säure-Basen-und des Elektrolyt-Haushaltes. Der Anaesthesist muß mit al len Details des Operationsablaufes ebenso vertraut sein wie mit den Metho den der extrakorporalen Zirkulation, der assistierten Zirkulation sowie der prae- und postoperativen Behandlung herzchirurgischer Patienten. Vom Anaesthesisten wird somit ein fächerübergreifendes Wissensspektrum ge fordert, er muß über die traditionellen Aufgaben seines Fachgebietes hin aus vor allem die Funktion eines Kardiologen im Operationssaal ausfüllen, d. h. 488 pp. Deutsch.
