Napi of course appears, but this text uses Na-pe. Thunder makes horses and gives them to the people. 72 pages with marvellous b/w illustrations (woodcuts ?) by Parker. Plenty of animals make an appearance including the trickster coyote, the magpie, the deer, the lynx, and the snake with BIG feet. The lead story (p. 08) involves an orphan boy who with the help of animals such as the owl manages to release the captive chinook. Cond : Boards are lime green with a drawing of the boy, the bear the owl and the chinook. Lettering is white. End-papers are white. D.J. has a repeat of the former illustration. Volume is tight, bright, square and clean (no names) in all respects - with but one folded page corner. D.J. is bright and clean with light rubs, wear, or tears to some edges. Collectible ! !
