First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: None. 1st Edition. This offering is an ex-library copy, in good condition, of 400 Outstanding Women of the World and Costumology of Their Time compiled by Minna Moscherosch Schmidt. The book does have library markings, and library wear . . . though I do believe it had minimal outside of the library use as it was in the Reference and Memorial sections for most of its stay. The book as published by Minna Moscherosch Schmidt Publisher in 1933 and appears to be a First Edition though it's not specifically stated as such. It's 6 1/8" by 9 1/4" and has 583 semi-glossy pages with an Index, a Table of Contents, and many, many illustrations and photographs. . . all black-and-white. It's a very interesting work. Thank you!.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. 400 Outstanding Women of the World and Costumology of Their Time, Compiled by Minna Moscherosch Schmidt, LL.B., LL.M., was published by Minna Moscherosch Schmidt, Publisher, in 1933. An ex-library copy, this 6" X 9", 583-page, thought-to-be First Edition offering is in G condition. There is modest yellowing of endpapers front and back as well as the pages of text, there are some of the standard library markings present, some shelf wear is seen at four outer tips of front/back cover boards as well as along bottom edges of same, and the outside length of the volume's spine has been taped, in black, to secure/stabilize same. This extremely fascinating, informative glimpse of American, and world, history, from the perspective of the women honored within its covers, is, to put it somewhat in-elegantly, a real hoot. All of the women lionized in this offering were deceased, some centuries ago, and some as recently as 1930. In Part One, women from some 40 countries around the world, plus some 25 "Under the Red Cross Emblem", are included, with a short, but amazingly detailed, biography, and a photograph or representative drawing. Part Two presents "Lectures on Costumology"(delivered by the Compiler at The University of Chicago Costume Studio, and Elsewhere), "Outlines of Pageants"(such as the Pageant of Hiawatha and the Chicago Pageant), "Service", "Personal Experiences", and "Genealogical Outline"(of the Moscherosch Family). I cannot do this offering justice in the limited space provided! THE MOST INTRIGUING ASPECT/FEATURE OF THIS VOLUME are the over eighty(80) black and white photographs, many of them full page, and not including the "bio" pictures, that so enrich, and contribute to the eccentric quality, of this unique publication. MOST NOTABLY, there are, among the back pages of this book, some 18 pages showing ".figurines of [the] 400 outstanding women of the world in groups similar to those exhibited at a Century of Progress International Exposition, Chicago, 1933". ALSO OF SPECIAL NOTE, the must-be-deceased-to-be-included rule was broken so that Mrs. Schmidt could include, and thus honor, eight "Eminent Women of Today", with their respective biographical sketches and photos. Among these individuals are Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt, Miss Jane Addams, and, still grappling with the problems and demands of early aviators, but still dreaming and planning of future flying records to assault and eclipse, MRS. AMELIA EARHART PUTNAM. Reader, you have to see this one, from first page to last, to believe it! Also included are Contents Pages, List of Illustrations, and Index. Thank you!!.
