pp 410 A fictionalised history of Windsor Castle from the time of Anne Boleyn to Jane Seymour. Very good in red cloth with gilt spine lettering, edges lightly rubbed, worn to head of the spine. This volume is undated, gift inscription to Harry Stopes-Roe from his Auntie May 1943. This book comes from the collection of the scientist and pioneer birth-control campaigner Marie Stopes (1880-1958) which was inherited by her son the philosopher Harry Stopes-Roe (1924-2014) and sold following the death of his widow Mary Stopes-Roe in May of this year. Mary was herself an academic and author, the daughter of the engineer and inventor of the bouncing bomb, Sir Barnes Wallis.
