About this Item
Uncorrected proof of the first British edition. Wrappers. Backstrip a little creased (title inked on spine), covers and prelims very mildly creased. Plexus, the middle volume of Miller's Rosy Crucifixion trilogy, falling between Sexus and Nexus, was first published in a French translation (by Elisabeth Guertic) by Corrêa, Paris, in April 1952; the first English text did not appear until April 1953, from the Olympia Press, Paris. Not until after the Lady Chatterley trial of 1959 would publishers in the Anglophone countries follow France. In 1963 editions came from Weidenfeld & Nicolson in London and Greenleaf in Evanston, Illinois, then Grove Press in New York. Weidenfeld printed 10,500 copies for 18 October 1963 and had to reprint within the month. Seller Inventory # T100470
