Georg Goltermann (18241898), the German cellist and composer, studied in Dresden at Friedrich August Kummer, being engaged by the Hamburg and Stuttgart kapelles. From 1850 he practised as the cello teacher at the Praga Conservatoire. Among his disciples there were such distinguished ones as David Popper. Goltermann's pieces enjoyed their popularity by the wonderful accessibility and aesthetic objectives. They train both imagination, inculcating technical skills of both junior and senior pupils. The second issue of pieces by Georg Goltermann is offered to the fifth and sixth grades of Children Music School. Nina Yevgeniyevna Zhemoldinova a well-known Petersburgian cello teacher, practising for almost thirty years. She is given the award of the Honoured Worker of the Russia Culture.
