About the Author:
The son of a wealthy landowner and a teacher, he lived a rural childhood to which he added full training. He moved to Madrid, where he stayed in the Student Residence and met his generation class mates and many figures of the artistic scene. In this environment he meets the Vanguards, but his personal sensitivity surpasses fashions and finally triumphs with his flagship, the Gypsy Ballads. After living a rewarding season in Cuba and New York (the impact of this city results in being a Poet in New York), he returns to Spain. During the Republic, he manages a company called La Barraca, a university theater group with which he brings classical theater to every corner of Spain. In 1933 he visits Buenos Aires, where his dramas achieve great success. On his return, Lorca, is already a successful poet. He publicly expresses his left-wing ideas; this fact puts him in the crosshairs of Nazis who kill him causing the outbreak of civil war, two months after finishing Bernarda Alba's house. Other outstanding works of the author are Cantejondo poem, The Prodigious Shoemaker, Blood Weddings, Barren, Dona Rosita the spinster, or the language of flowers, Mariana Pineday The public, all o fhtem published in Austral."
