En este decimocuarto volumen de Textos para la historia del español se abre la colección a documentos de archivos privados que no tienen, por lo general, un acceso público. En él se ofrece la edición y estudio lingüístico de un conjunto de cartas entre particulares del siglo XIX, pertenecientes a una biblioteca y fondo familiar ubicados en Anguciana (La Rioja). En total, se editan 30 documentos, cuya lectura nos traslada a mediados del siglo XIX, entre 1873 y 1887 exactamente, período en el que dos primos, Pedro de Ávila y Justo Diez del Corral, mantuvieron una asidua correspondencia epistolar. Las cartas nos acercan a la vida cotidiana de Pedro, un profesor del Real Colegio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, que estaba a cargo del pupilaje de cuatro jóvenes que le confió su primo Justo, viticultor de Anguciana. El estudio filológico que precede a la edición pone de relieve los aspectos documentales y lingüísticos más relevantes de estas cartas inéditas, que se presentan, como en cada volumen de la colección, en la forma tripartita que propone la red CHARTA: transcripción paleográfica, presentación crítica y edición facsimilar. *** Nota: Los envíos a España peninsular, Baleares y Canarias se realizan a través de mensajería urgente.
