Book Description Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. 460 pages. Huge, heavy volume. 12.25" x 10.25". Hundreds of large, detailed color photographs. Hardcover with a dust jacket. The Remington No. 3 Rifle is known to today's collectors as the Remington Hepburn, but in its day E. Remington & Sons referred to it as the Remington No. 3 Rifle Hepburn Patent. This action is among the rarest of the major American single shots with only about 10,000 produced. In the past, so much of what is known of this rifle, its variants and accessories has been based on rumor and legend and not until now has a serious study of these interesting rifles been done. Factory records are almost non-existent, so all that is available to work with are original company catalogs and the surviving rifles. In this book all of the various Hepburn models are shown in full color and discussed. Also included is an extensive look and evaluation of the Remington Schuetzen Rifle, known to today's collectors as the Remington Walker. Also shown in this book are the two known true Walker rifles. Ammunition, the loading tools and appropriate sights are included in detail. Also included is a unique table showing several hundred surviving examples. An outstanding new title.
