Arthur Ransome, writing appreciatively of Nelson, maintained, "It is one of the few modern fishing books certain of its longevity." This edition includes an introductory biographical essay by John Austin, an appreciation of the River Eden by Malcolm Greenhalgh and Ransome's essay, "In Memoriam: William Nelson," first published in Rod & Line. Published by the Flyfisher's Classic Library in 2009 in an edition limited to 500 copies. Although a limitation of 500 copies was stated, only 60 copies were produced in the leather FFCL binding, the remaining 440 copies being being issued in a new cloth binding and dust-wrapper in 2014.
