Review:
I first discovered Grace Livingston Hill when I was 11 or 12. Livingston's simple stories of faith and romance have been some of my favorites ever since.
Beauty for Ashes is no different. This simple story of two high society girls who find joy in a simpler life and a walk with Christ is uplifting and a joy to read.--Karen Palmer"WorryFreeMom" (10/07/2013)
From the Back Cover:
."" . .there stood Gloria in her lovely orchid dress with her gold hair aflame and her eyes wide pools of dark blue horror in a white, white face."" The news dealt a startling blow. Days before her wedding, Gloria Sutherland's fiance was shot and killed in a nightclub while dancing with another woman. To avoid the swirling gossip, Gloria travels to her father's childhood home in Maine, seeking peace but doubting she'll ever find it again. Then she meets Murray MacRae, a neighbor and promising young businessman. Gloria's summer is soon filled with backyard tennis matches and twilight suppers. . .and a faint idea that maybe some men are worthy of trust. Murray's faith begins to revive Gloria's hope. If only her past would remain hidden. Surely no beauty could rise from the ashes of her life. . . .
