When it comes to interesting lives, Vanity Fair would love to have run a series on E.B. Gunn, except he would never have given the interview. Beginning when he was in high school, E.B worked as a newspaper reporter covering everything from political campaigns to celebrity divorces (and the occasional wedding) to Superfund scandals, business meltdowns, and more than a few political train wrecks. He once wrote a series called The Murder of Earth. From there, turning temporarily legitimate, he worked in New York's City Hall before being recruited to work on Wall Street's front lines. Little did he know at the time that at City Hall and on the Street he was working alongside some of his times' greatest heroes ... and gangsters. It didn't take long for Gunn to tire of the Wall Street scene and when he did he put his feet up and hung out his shingle as a small town political consultant.
