Synopsis

The varied cast of characters includes Hassler's parents, boyhood friends, relatives, colleagues, and even the fictional characters he has created in his many years as a writer. About the Author
Jon Hassler, author, educator, playwright, and painter, began his writing career at the age of thirty-seven, completing fifteen works of fiction and two works of nonfiction. His novels include Staggerford, A Green Journey, Dear James, and North of Hope. Jon taught English in high school and college for forty-one years, ending his academic career as Regents Professor Emeritus at Saint John's University of Minnesota. He died in 2008 after a long illness, though he continued to write novels until the end.
Synopsis
Jon Hassler's memoir, Good People, is a nostalgic look at the virtue of goodness. Based on those characters--fictional and real--who have played a significant role in his life, Hassler's book reveals how our understanding of goodness is formed by the people who surround us.
