Bernard S. Jackson, Alliance Professor of Modern Jewish Studies, University of Manchester; Queen Victoria Professor of Law at the University of Liverpool, 1989-97. He is the author also of Law, Fact and Narrative Coherence (1988), Making Sense in Law (1995) and Making Sense in Jurisprudence (1996).
