1st Edition thus; the First One-Volume Edition, 1965. Very thick Royal 8vo. 884pp. Very good clean tight sound square, no bookplate, inscription or marks of any kind. In very good bright gilt lettered and illustrated rose cloth with pale blue title label to very gently rubbed spine, clean crisp corners and edges. Originally published separately, Durrell has here restored passages omitted in the MS. stage and made alterations thus; 'Balthazar and Mountolive both loose half a dozen lines. Clea gains a small section, and a new translation from C.P. Cavafy.' A great addition to the library of reader, scholar and collector alike.
