Di quindici anni non compiti, cioè ai 25 d' Ottobre del 1746, entrò egli nella Compagnia di Gesù, in cui visse fino alla sua abolizione, e per cui conservò sempre fino alla morte un tenerissimo affetto, che la sua modestia stessa e la sua circospetta 'ritenutezza non poteva celare alle occasioni o che venivano a trovarloi suoi gra confratelli, o che a lui ricorrevano per qualche loro bisogno particolare. F atto il noviziato e gli studi opportuni, passò a fare scuola nelle più cospicue città di sua provincia; ciò che dimostra e la sua capacità, e i suoi particolari talenti, e la stima in cui era fin d'allora pressoi suoi supe riori. Essa SI accrebbe poi in loro sicuramente pel felice. Corso da lui fatto di teologia, e pal felicissimo esperimento che dette del suo profitto nella Difesa fattane dell' Atto grande.
