Synopsis: A picture book about Richard, a police horse in London's Metropolitan Police Force. "He lives in an elegant, blue-tiled stable in Great Scollard Street with fifteen other horses. His rider not only works with him, but feeds and cares for him too. Richard's work takes him out into the City streets amongst traffic and crowds and noise. He has been trained not to fear these things and he trusts his rider completely. For about three hours a day he and his constable patrol their beat or perform whatever special duties are required of them. Then, at the end of his work, Richard returns to his stable, to the stall that has his name on the wall and to his generous feed of oats and bed of clean, warm, straw. Seller Inventory # 007390
