I wrote this book because we're bombarded with images of sex in the media, but no-one ever talks about what sex is really like in marriage. All anyone ever says, usually jokingly, is that they hardly ever have any. When you're dealing with broken nights, clingy toddlers and difficult pregnancies, that's not surprising, but when the children are a little older and less dependent, women get to reclaim their bodies back. But what then? Sex is no longer about dating and mating. If you've got Mr Right and had your children, it loses its biological purpose. But does it? The generation of women now in their 40s, 50s and 60s were the first who, collectively, grew up with the idea that they had a right to sexual satisfaction,and that it could be a positive part of a relationship rather than a duty, but in many ways, this places more pressure on the necessity to have a good sex life. If that goes wrong, is it a sign that something more fundamental is wrong with their marriage? Sometimes it may be. Lucy has to deal with all these issues, plus temptation - because when you're unhappy or worried, temptation is particularly tempting...
