About the Author:
George Gordon Byron, born in 1788, inherited his barony in 1798. It was with the publication in 1812, of the first two cantos of CHILDE HAROLD'S PILGRIMAGE that Byron became famous. He left England for good in 1816 and eventually settled in Italy. But in 1823, he left for Greece to fight in its struggle for independence, but contracted a fever and died in 1824, leaving his masterpiece DON JUAN, unfinished.
