First published in 1981, this unique record book has been revised and updated through the 1991 season and includes hundreds of unusual and esoteric records that cannot be found anywhere else. The most and the least in hitting, fielding and pitching, as well as a list of every grand slam ever hit in the majors, and much more.

Samelson, who contributed to The Baseball Encyclopedia ( LJ 9/1/90) and other works of the late Reichler, extends the original Record Book ( LJ 8/81) through the 1991 season. Here are Major League individual and team stats--even before 1900--that go beyond batting, fielding, and pitching, with such listings as brother acts, hardest and easiest players to double up and strike out, and unusual pitching marks. While no substitute for The Baseball Encyclopedia (Macmillan, 1990) and sans the narration provided in The Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract ( LJ 1/86), this greater collection of baseball achievements belongs in collections owning the previous edition.
