Each issue from a limitation of (No. 1 only not stated, but probable) 750, 750, 750 and 700 respectively, all printed at the Curwen Press with the total limitation split into allocations for Curwen and Random House, each bound in quarter-black cloth over black-and-white patterned paper covered boards designed by Paul Nash, Enid Marx, Althea Willoughby and Harry Carter respectively, Nos. 2 and 4 only with original printed dustjackets in acetate protector sleeves. A cornucopia of wood engraving, including book reviews, technical articles and crowned by the engravings themselves which represent a Who's Who of British, continental and Russian artists of the 'golden age' of the late 1920s: John Buckland Wright, Clare Leighton, Leon Underwood, Alexander Alexeieff, Gwen Raverat, Gertrude Hermes, Aristide Maillol, Eric Gill, Blair Hughes-Stanton, John Nash, Eric Ravilious, David Jones, Paul Nash and many others, plus Rockwell Kent, Wharton Esherick and Howard Simon representing the USA. A very pleasing set each with its appropriate patterned paper boards (some copies were issued in plain boards), two of the issues with their scarce dustjackets. An essential component of the library of any wood engraving enthusiast. Very Good: some board corners with slight bumping and wear, slight browning around the head of the spine to No. 4, a foxing spot to the blank margin of p47 No.1, ink inscription to ffep No.1, otherwise internally clean and bright with no inscriptions, No. 2 dustjacket Very Good (moderate fade to spine), No. 4 dustjacket Good (brown liquid watermarks) but neither with any tearing or loss.
