Scuffing, marking, shelf-wear, bumped and torn corners. Slackness and strain to binding, cracked hinges. Page edges gilt, somewhat marked and scuffed. First few pages loose. Has much on cricket - A Fool at the Wicket, A Harley Cricket Story, by Hylton Cleaver; Knight of the Willow, An Interview with a Great Cricketer [D J (Donald) Knight of Surrey and England], by Hylton Cleaver; Some Common Bowling Faults, by D J Knight, with action photographs by E H D Sewell; The Public School Sportsman, by 'Fieldsman', with some cricket content; and others. In poor (though arguably close to fair) condition, bearing in mind its age and nature - marks and chips around spine; marks on front and rear covers; the first four pages (of advertisements) are loose because of oxidation to and wear around staples; some foxing internally throughout; a few minor tears and marks;

For the cricket enthusiast, there is "The Art of Slow Bowling" by George Dennett (Gloucestershire County Cricket Club), with illustrations by 'Rip'; as well as a few other mentions. See accompanying illustrations for Contents. Publication in poor condition - marks, wear and tear, nicks etc at covers and spine; internally, some foxing and damage to page corners etc.

Condition: Good. 1907. No edition remarks. 575 pages. No dust jacket. Pictorial cloth covered boards. Black and white illustrations throughout. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding slightly loose. Small bookshop label to front pastedown. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is dulled but remains brighter on front.

Pages yellowed; cover worn; spine very worn with loss at head & foot. Contains a sea story 'Brute Force' by Westerman. Used - Acceptable. Fair paperback magazine.

No date but owner's name on ffep dated 1892, no title page either, and no sign that there ever was one, 672-page volume opens with a talk with G A Henty, followed by scores of other stories of adventures in far-off lands (A Donkey Boy of Cairo; The Pirate Chung-Li-Sen; To Khartoum with a Kodak, a serial entitled The King's Red Coat - a Story of the Royal Dragoons, by DH Parry etc) and articles of interest to boys (many about cricket, such as WG Grace and His New Work; How to Bat and How Not to Bat, etc; also What I Think of Girls; When you Leave School - Engineering; All About the ship the Worcester; The Beginnings of the Railway; The South African Elephant at Home, etc), some written by military personnel, photographs, illustrations, cartons, etc; contains some offensive racial stereotypes of the time. Rubbing to corners and extremities of pictorial red boards, faint coffee rings and general wear, edges tanned, beginning of starting hinge at front but binding remains firm, edges tanned, pages clean save for the odd spot.
