Dent & Sons Ltd 1982 12" x 9" Page 8 Chez Hall No 48 → Warmly inscribed to John Reed band manager of the British Rock Group, Queen & manager & former lover of Elton John, best wishes for a very happy Christmas and successful 1983. Like Bailey we are longstanding inhabitants of NW1 so we are slightly prejudice about these superb photographs & hope very much you enjoy them too. Love, . London NW1 was a departure for Bailey. To capture the images for the book he left his glamour-filled studio and took to the streets of his local neighbourhood, photographing the buildings and landscape from a local's perspective. An early working-title for the project was 'Banalities', the idea being to capture technically perfect shots of unresponsive buildings, but Bailey's affection for his local surroundings and the realisation that he was recording a vanishing world led to a much more personal and reflective series of photographs.
