[The basis for the 1969 movie, Kes, directed by Ken Loach and starring David Bradley, the late Brian Glover and Colin Welland. A true classic of post-war British cinema with its pertinent and fiercely unsentimental portrait of Northern working-class life and its almost incomprehensible Northern dialect.
