(8), 548, (549-556 omitted in pagination), (557)-559, (1) pp. A bit worn and with spotty foxing, a small hole in the blank outside margins of a few leaves; a good to very good copy. John Eberle (1787-1838) completed his M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania in 1809. The early days of his medical practice in his native Lancaster, Pennsylvania were interrupted by his service as a surgeon in the War of 1812. Thereafter he practiced in Philadelphia, established and edited (1818-30) the 'American Medical Recorder, and was a founding faculty member of Jefferson Medical College. In the 1830's he was at the Medical College of Ohio and Transylvania University and edited two medical journals there. His comprehensive pediatrics text was among the early such works authored by an American.
