This 6.25 x 9.5 inch, two-volume hardcover set is the stated first edition of the title by the prestigious University of Oklahoma Press, 1965. The two volumes are in fine condition but lack the slipcase as issued. Volume 1 has a lengthy inscription from the author on the half title and volume 2 has just the author's signature on both the half title and title page. Both volumes are in fine condition with no condition issues to mention. The grey cloth covers show no wear or smudging and the text pages are as new. Hutchinson was a prominent California author with a speciality of authorship on the American West. He taught college history at one of California's state universities and was selected in one year as the single top professor in the entire California college system.
