About this Item
Manuscript deed for the transfer of land in New York City at 18th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, from Edward St. Clair Clarke to Richard Delafield, ("Major in the United States Corps of Engineers") who was Superintendent at the United States Military Academy at West Point just prior to the Civil War, and who served in that war as Major General in the Union Army. Notarized and signed by Anthony Hyde, Commissioner for the State of New York, with his embossed stamp, in the District of Columbia, 1858, and recorded in the Office of the Register of the City and County of New York in 1862. Sml. folio, folding sheet of blue paper, in ink, on two sides, contemporary folds. Some small slits at folds, slt dusty at front cover, o/w very good. Seller Inventory # 14349
