About this Item
Octavo, blue cloth lettered in gilt; unclipped dust jacket, slightly soiled. First edition, second printing. A presentation copy, inscribed: "To Judge Philip C. Jessup - With respect and continuing thanks. Sincerely, James Saxon Childers," on the half-title page. Jessup, a United Nations ambassador at large and judge on the International Court of Justice at The Hague, was credited with playing a major role in ending the Soviet blockade of West Berlin. A significant work, linking the iconic diplomat Jessup with Childers, who was asked by the State Department to visit India, Afghanistan, and Korea as a good-will ambassador.
