About this Item

Partially erased pencil notations regarding the book's design and production appear above Politi's inscription. A charming story centering around the annual Blessing of the Animals at Olvera Street in Los Angeles. Born in Fresno, California, Leo Politi (1908-96) spent his developmental years studying art at the Institute of Monza in Milan Italy. Returning to California in 1928, Politi settled near Olvera Street in Los Angeles and began writing and drawing in earnest, winning a Caldecott Award in 1949 for Song of the Swallows. Quarto. Original pictorial cloth binding (Scribners Library Binding). Some very mild edgewear; else very good. Seller Inventory # 75946
