Two handwritten pages on 2 sheets of 7 1/4 x 10 1/2" printed stationary from The Whittier A Distinguished Hotel Burns Drive, Detroit, Michigan. Postmarked:February 17, 1959. To Cleveland, Ohio based theatre personality Jon Essex (Hanna Theater, Cleveland, Ohio). "Dear John- You should see this apt--really a lovely one with view of Detroit river- (I won't mention the fact that it looks like "Great Expectations" wedding cake-flowers-all wilted & crumbled-but if Barbara Baxley [?] has to leave [?] come return [?] -us- it's better for one to know more-) Anyhow the weather was a problem here too-dense fog-cold rain- snow- We are doing beautifully [?] here- Standing room last night- & I understand next week is even better- however- the Cleveland audience seemed faster [?] to me- I'm delighted they've liked the show in both cities- wouldn't it be nice if Chicago turned out nicely- We miss you- Love [signed] Imogen [with heart drawing with pointing arrow] Happy Valentine". In a printed stationary envelope hand addressed by Imogene Coca & with I. Coca written under hotel address; with blue 7 cent US airmail stamp; top flap of envelope has been torn open with tearing & loss of some of flap. Letter in fine condition. Scarce autograph letter.
