Stafford thanks Mannix for a gift; comments on her Xmas and director Edward Buzzell. Jo Stafford (1918-2008), California-born popular singer, former member of The Pied Pipers with Tommy Dorsey; had her own radio show (1945-1949) and a string of hit records in the early 1950's; married to bandleader Paul Weston.
