Early printing with a number sequence down to 18. Publication year 1982. Near Fine in Near Fine unclipped ($16.95) dust jacket with light edgewear and on upper spine (jacket). SIGNED, inscribed by the author/artist on the half-title page. Van Allsburg majored in sculpture - no surprise for anyone who is familiar with The Z was Zapped - but his two-dimensional art is no less exquisite, usually offering the viewer a child's eye view of the action. Fritz the Bull Terrier often makes an appearance in Chris's books, including this one (in a framed picture). Two-time winner of the prestigious CALDECOTT MEDAL, Chris Van Allsburg's books highly collected, especially signed printings. This is the author/artist's third book and is scarcely found signed. .
