First edition. 192 pages. Author's copy, inscribed in black ink to the front endpaper: "32nd book Margery Lawrence Published January 1966". The book is bound in hard-wearing dark blue cloth with matching blue top-stain to the text block and a brown faux leather spine label, lettered and decorated in gilt. The binding is firm, the cloth is lightly rubbed and marked, the spine a little faded. The text block is slightly foxed, marked and age toned. A crime novel of betrayal and attempted murder, based on Lawrence's considerable knowledge of spiritualism and occult practices, the villain of the piece a dangerous femme fatale who uses fake mediumship to entrap her victims.
