New York: Norton, 1975. First edition. A fine copy in dark brown cloth with gilt spine lettering in a near-fine dustwrapper with a tiny closed tear on the front panel and a small slice at the bottom of the front flap, not affecting the copy or price. Hugo is a Montana poet, nominated twice for the National Book Award, for this book and for The Lady in Kicking Horse Reservoir. He also served as editor of the prestigious Yale Younger Poets series. He was a friend of National Book Award winner John Williams (author of Augustus as well as two other classics, Stoner and Butcher's Crossing. In this copy, which was owned by Williams, Hugo has written: "For John. What I lovest well remains you and your writing and your lectures and a lot of good times in Denver. Dick Hugo.".
