Cloth. 1965-1978. First Edition. Inscribed and Signed By the Author. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. xxiv, 548, [16], xvii, 370p. Two volumes + supplement to vol. 1 laid in. A fine set in which there is a typed label on the front free endpaper which gives the original price of the set and the ISBN number, in very good d.j.s., the d.j. of vol. 2 has a one inch closed tear at the top of the back panel and shows a little wear along the edges. The subtitle to volume 1 is Varied Plant Groups Introduce True Ferns Through Spore Tetrad Structure and this volume contains approximately 350 photomicrographs, including 14 in color, 100 photographs and 700 drawings. The subtitle to volume 2 is Representative Species With Spore Cases That Differ From "True Fern" Sporangia and this volume contains approximately 301 photomicrographs, including 16 in color; 22 photographs, including 12 in color; and 484 drawings.
