(pictorial cloth; no dust jacket) [somewhat worn copy, with bumping/fraying at extremities, some surface deterioration to covers (more pronounced on rear cover); hinges are intact, book is internally clean aside from some light staining on the verso of the half-title page and the frontispiece]. (4 B&W plates) INSCRIBED ("To Eleanor Barnes / with my compliments and my high regards") and SIGNED by the author on the title page, additionally dated Apr. 20, 1925. Western adventure story, about a young boy (and his dog) taken captive by Indians. He lives with them for many years and learns their ways (becoming known as "Red Plume" along the way), but never stops plotting his escape. The author, a doctor, wrote a number of books in a similar vein, including two subsequent "Red Plume" yarns. Signed by Author. Seller Inventory # 15195
