One of 500 copies. Binding tight; pages clean; text bright on spine and cover; gilt top edge; hinges slightly cracked; rear endpaper chipped. Autographed by Isaac Myer on half-title page with 'Read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest' and dated June 24, 1901. With 27 illustrations. Myer was an attorney and author in New York City and Philadelphia and an amateur historian and Orientalist who published books on U.S. constitutional history, federalism, and mystical and antiquarian subjects. I had every intention of keeping all of these books! I've been collecting books for twenty-plus years, including autographed copies in a variety of fields (many lugged to signing events in New York), and wrote a book on collecting for a Random House imprint a decade ago. It's an interesting library, and I've been fortunate enough to live in suburban houses that could accommodate all (most) of the necessary Ikea bookcases. But my wife and I have relocated permanently to Manhattan, downsizing from a six-bedroom house to a two-bedroom apartment. So several thousand books have to go *somewhere*. Hello, ABE -- the site that helped me buy so many of them in the first place.
