A very good copy of the first hard cover edition in a rather poor dust-jacket, warmly inscribed and signed by Alvin Fay Harlow on the front free endpaper in the year of publication. The text is of course unmarked pristine. Light foxing to top page edge, and a miniscule smudge, as from shelf-wear, to the bottom page edge at the corner only. Yellowing of endpapers as from lay in of newspaper review, which is now included as an additional lay-in, in plastic (New York Times Book Review of this title, dated May 27, 1934). Red cloth binding with gilt lettering is remarkably bright and fresh in appearance. Roughly three-quarters of the jacket is present, though it is abundantly tattered and torn, and several chips are laid in the volume. All in all a lovely copy of this fascinating volume which is rarely found signed. Seller Inventory # 005019
