Paperback, bound in brown card covers with printed titling and design. 19 × 12.5cm, 76pp. This copy has been signed by the author's wife to the ffep, "C M S De Montmorency, 31 Lee Terrace, Blackheath, SE3". This was Caroline Maud Saumarez De Montmorency (nee de Havilland) and they married in 1899. A collection of eleven short stories and written sketches, some of which have a folk-lore or supernatural flavour, and with a poem to the fallen as a preface. The author, James Edward Geoffrey de Montmorency, was a British barrister who was the Quain Professor of Comparative Law in the University of London, 1920?1930, and also composed entries for the Dictionary of National Biography. Condition: Good condition. The card covers are a little chipped and sun-faded, slight loss to the spine ends. The pages are untrimmed but clean and the inner binding is secure.
