Inscribed on the half-title: "Baron Walsingham/ with the Author s regards." Octavo. 58 pages, 2 ads. Frontispiece "Diagram to shew the Proportion of Deaths per 1,000 per Annum… 1872." Bound in brown cloth with blind rules on covers and gilt lettering on spine. Dr. Henry Acland (1815-1900) was a friend of the controversial art critic John Ruskin (1819-1900), whom he met while they were undergraduates at Christ Church, Oxford. . Binding lightly scuffed, color unevenly faded, small water stains, diagonal crease across lower right corner of the front cover, corner and edge bumps. Endpapers discolored.
