About this Item
Some fading to jacket spine, signed 'Pamela Oldfield' to the title page, signed books by this author are very rare. She was called the Gooding Girl, because alone of all the children in the family, she was the image of her formidable grandmother. Her real name was Julia Lady Coulsden. Named after the fishing boat Silver Lady, because she was born the very day the boat was lanuched in her uncle's yard. It is against the background of middle-class family prosperity and social ambition that the story of Julia Coulsden unfolds. The story of a girl burdened by the selfishness of a doting father, but blessed by the far-sighted generosity of her Gooding grandmother, who will make her wealthy in her own right.
