About this Item
Octavo, 110pp. A vrey good copy in the publisher's dark navy cloth, gently worn at the corners and spine ends, lacking the dust jacket. This copy SIGNED and warmly INSCRIBED by Clark on the front free endpaper in the year of publication to George Rapall Noyes, a noted scholar of Slavic languages at Berkeley: "To George Rapall Noyes with good wishes and kind regards. From the writer Barrett H. Clark New York 24 August 1926." Tipped onto the rear endpapers is a 2.5-page autograph letter also SIGNED by Clark, to Noyes. The letter thanks Noyes for his close reading of this book, and addresses a literary point about O'Neill's "All God's Chillun [Got Wings]." Clark goes on to mention Alexander Ostrovsky, one of Noyes's primary subjects, and a few other Slavic writers, lamenting their lack of popularity among the book-buying public at the time. An [18]pp. offprint of Clark's Introduction to The Plays of Paul Green is also tipped-in to the rear endpapers. Seller Inventory # 11352
