About this Item
Presentation copy. Inscribed "To General Sheridan from the Author" on first free endpaper. This was presumably Union general Philip Sheridan. Pale green cloth boards with gilt lettering on cover and spine. Rubbing to edges with boards exposed at corners; fraying to head and tail of spine; slight toning, mostly to spine. No dust jacket. Front gutter has started to crack, but binding is still tight. Interior has minor toning and creasing, otherwise clean. A few spots of soiling to fore-edge of text block. Includes a few pages of advertisement before and after the text. Prolific author William Eleroy Curtis (1850-1911) penned this book on the Zuni people of the American Southwest. It features chapters about their culture and religion, their history with the Spanish conquistadors, anthropologist Frank Cushing, and the Grand Canyon. Quite scarce in this edition. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 154 pp; Signed by Author. Seller Inventory # 024239
