13 preliminary pages, 245 pages, folded chronological table, section of 101 black and white plates, book in fair condition (repaired damage to the left edge of the spine, corners of boards, top and bottom and edges of spine rubbed, top edge of book spotted, text in very good, clean condition) with good dust-wrapper (not price clipped, edges rubbed with more extensive wear at the top corners, top and bottom of spine chipped, one edge tear)). Author's copy with his ink ownership inscription on the front free end-paper dated 21 February 1973 and the bookplate of Pamela and raymond Lister. Loosely enclosed is a newspaper cutting with a review of the book. Also a hand-written letter from Irina Baronova Tennant (3 pages, dated 9th January 1987) concerning another of the author's books.
